Samsung Galaxy Note Tablet Review

Galaxy Note: This is truely Big phone or a small tablet. is an Androids Gingerbread-based device which brings the best of the smartphone world.

Review

Samsung have bravely stepping into land between phone and tablet, Galaxy Note feels like a slick Android device and is the first phone to go over 5-inc screen mark (Something big is coming). The Samsung Galaxy Note is basically a small Android tablet, or a large Android smart phone, depending on your point of view. Dell has done something similar before with the Dell Streak, but that wasn't particularly successful.

Display

The Note's 5.3in screen runs to 1280 x 800 HD Super AMOLED display, and the display gives the Note a wonderfully crisp 289 ppi (pixels per inch), very high spec than you get on phone and very nice and thin which makes very confotable to hold. The Note have a curve round edges to the back in a manner very reminiscent of the original iPhone. The note can be used as a phone and it has all the functionality of the smartphone. The display is eye-searingly bright, and colours are as rich and saturated as we’ve come to expect from Samsung’s Super AMOLED technology.

On superior shots of landscapes and wildlife, the colours were nearly eye-popping. Note has slightly tighter resolutions, but Note owners will little to complain about in the screen. Browsing through photo galleries is one of the key points from such a screen-centric device

Processor

The Note comes with a dual-core 1.4Ghz processor (means is tow processor of 1.4GHz) powering Google’s Android 2.3.5 with usual TouchWiz UI on top;

Memory

Samsung Galaxy Note has inbuilt memory of 150MB but with additional microSD memory card it is capable to manage up to 32GB for huge additional data storage. 2GB memory card is included with new box of the phone.

Design

The Note comes with stylus and it slots into a bay at the base of the Note. This stylus works with Samsung’s S Note software for making handwritten notes or even artistic sketches. It’s possible to choose from a variety of pen/brush types and thicknesses with the drop-down menu, and thanks to the Galaxy Note’s sizeable screen, inking feels natural and comfortable. Basic handwriting recognition also allows you to use the S Pen within the Note’s messaging application.

Note’s 146.85 x 82.95 x 9.65 mm, 178g, the 83mm breadth too much to be able to grasp in our palm, but since it’s so light, it’s no problem to hold it by one edge and tap away with digits on the other hand and weigh only 178g

The stylus is supported by most of the phone’s native apps including note-taking, email, IM, video and photo viewers, and Samsung will be releasing an SDK shortly after the Note's release – to help build a large eco-system around the stylus.

Despite the large screen size and the presence of a stylus, the Note manages to retain the sleek lines of the Galaxy S II with an overall thickness of just 9.65mm across a bit thicker than the iPad 2

The Note is currently running Android 2.3.5 with the usual TouchWiz UI on top, which has added a row of five launcher icon along the bottom of the lock screen, allowing you drag them upwards to unlock the phone into a particular app.

Camera

The Nore comes with 8 megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera: GPS; and Full-HD video recording at 30fps. Photos and video features are also well-provisioned. The 8Mp camera shows little lag and has its own LED flash. Full 1080p video can also be captured and we were pleased to find support for a good range of video, music and photo formats. Among the less common to be included are DivX and xVid, H.263 (as well as H.264), Flac and OGG Vorbis .

Price

Beneath its preorder information page is the message that the price has yet to be announced by the manufacturer. As an outright purchase price, £600 would be the equivalent to £25 a month over a 24-month contract. This compares with a BlackBerry Bold 9780 (albeit with 3G onboard) for £26 a month or a £36-a-month Samsung Galaxy S II with 3G. In short, we can see a market for the Galaxy Note with business users and those who want a single device to provide both business and leisure features. We’ll be intrigued to learn the final 3G pricing for this device.

Connectivity

Device is capable to access top speed up to 21 Mbps in 3G while surfing web, it also has various type of features to exchange and receive data with others with features Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v3.0+HS, GPRS, EDGE, v2.0 microUSB (MHL), USB On-the-go.

What Bad

The stylus is easy to go missing and might be too big for a phone and too small for a Tablet.
