Review

For the past year Samsung Galaxy S has been a rip-roaring success the original Galaxy S was a fine handset, this latest refit includes dual core processor, stunning AMOLED screen, a fine 8Mp camera, over-air syncing and more, all packed within one of the slimmest enclosures you’re likely to come across. There was no surprise to see Samsung released a Galaxy SII this year capitalize at Mobile World Congress. Galaxy SII is a successor handset no doubt about it.

Samsung Galaxy S II- Very slim and lighter

The handset measures 125 x 66 x 8.5mm, which almost makes it feel more like a stretched out playing card than a top-of-the-range Android smartphone. Not only is it very slim, at 115g it’s very light too, though part of that can be attributed to the rather flimsy plastic back panel.

The front mostly consists of a single sheet of glass, surrounded by a thin metal rim, with a single hard home button at the bottom. Pressing it kicks the screen into life and reveals a touch sensitive button on either side: back and menu, but no Android search button.

On the sides are a slimline volume rocker and power button, with a 3.5mm headphone jack on top and a micro USB power/sync slot on the bottom. Indeed, everything is where it should be, although there’s no hard camera shutter button.

Technically speaking, the 4.3in screen’s 480 x 800-pixel resolution may not be quite as sharp as the iPhone’s 640 x 960, but in use, you’d hardly notice. It looks great, with extremely vibrant colours and very bright too, which helps when you’re looking at it in sunlight, along with its very wide viewing angle too. The screen’s not just a pretty face either, since it’s admirably sensitive, distinguishing between brushes and presses with ease.

Physical Design

one of the thing which strike me is how thin the handset is. the handset is about 8.49mm from front to back, looks so nice. The phone has out-diets the iPhone 4 with its sharp edge and straight sides, the handset is the slimmest smartphone to-date.

The phone is so light is weigh 116g, however the down sides to this the phone feels as if is cheap and plastic. Well it's plastic, however while enjoying a reassuring metal frame,  the build quality of the S II is very high. I didn't notice its slim chassis creaking at all. Great stuff and Samsung has retain the iPhone-alike-front-panel design.

Battery Life and perfomance

Galaxy SII jas dual-core processor, based on the ARM Cortex A9 design. most of the dual-process smartphone and tablet are doing the same however the Galaxy SII the speed is up from 1GHz to 1.2GHz which blows the competition. The phone open the webpage like u-tube video in four seconds.

Beside the superb processor the phone has 1GB of RAM, everything even Angry birds play is smooth. The battery can last to two days for moderate use with dynamic-brightness tool and the ambient light monitor.

GPS and  Camera

There is no problem to Google Maps navigation and the huge improvement in the camera. The phone is stuffed with a lot of features with ISO, metering adjustments and much more.

Samsung has a very good camera with S 8Mp snapper offering a good range of shooting and scene modes including macro and action shot, hence compare to iPhone 4 camera the Galaxy won every time.

Sample Shots

You can see the sample shots picture taken inside and outside the quality is amazing.

Software

Galaxy S runs on Android 2.3.3 (Gingerbread) with full flash capable. the phone is lacking video chatting however with the update to 2.3.4 the feature will be available.

Although the phone doesnt have HDMI slot for direct connect digital connection to the TV however  the DLNA capability allows you to connect wirelessly to the network and streaming that way.
