Motorola Droid RAZR review

The handset is incredibly thin, at 7.1mm Motorola claims it to be the world's thinnest smartphone; "Impossibly thin" goes the tagline. It is also incredibly strong with a precision machined stainless steel core and laminated construction for enhanced rigidity, with woven kevlar fibre on the back.

Engine Room

RAZR's powerd with a dual-core 1.2GHz processor and 1GB of RAM and running the latest Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) with a MotoBlur skin, although is not a prettiest skin.

Display

The handset has a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Advanced qHD touchscreen. Plus, similar to the Motorola Atrix before it, two WebTop docks will be available - one more expensive and higher powered - so Droid RAZR owners can turn their phones into netbook style devices.

Camera

There's an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, with 1080p HD video recording abilties, and a front-facing HD webcam for video conferencing.

Design

There's gorilla glass and it's the first smartphone from the stable that features Motorola splash-guard with a nanotechnology coating, in order to protect it from water spills and the like. It's also correspondingly lightweight, at only 127 grams (4.5 ounces) and dimension at 130.7 x 68.9 x 7.1 mm.

The Droid Razr feels surprisingly solid, and Motorola says that's because of the sculpted glass, the Kevlar backing, and the stainless steel chassis that holds it all together. There's even a nanotechnology coating that makes the phone splash resistant.

Storage

The Droid Razr has 32GB of memory that consists of 16GB on board and a preinstalled 16GB microSD card, and it can accommodate up to 32GB microSD cards.

Connectivity

HDMI out, the low-power Bluetooth 4.0 that opens up a world of devices, Wi-Fi network

Battery Life

The RAZR's 1800mah battery life is claimed to last up to 12.5 hours of talk time, with 8.9 hours of video playback before recharging.

Price

There's no price as of yet - but we do expect it to launch in the US first, as it will run on Verizon's 4G LTE network.
