[Rumour] Samsung Galaxy SIII spec

Samsung Galaxy III : Running Android Ice Cream Sandwich, is reportedy being prepped to play host to a mighty 1.5-1.8GHz Quad-core processor.

Engine Room

The device will run on Google’s next-generation mobile operating system Android Ice Cream Sandwich the Samsung Galaxy S III powered with either 1.5-1.8GHz Quad-core  Exynos 4212 processor, backed up with 2GB of RAM, with this processor and double the RAM of Galaxy SII.


Design, Display & Processor

The screen is as cutting edge as they get, being 4.65 inches and boasting Super AMOLED Plus HD tech, 1280 x 1024p resolution display. No surprise that the dimensions of the display are close to those of the yet-to-be-announced Nexus Prime.

Since OLED screens have no backlight, they use less power and are generally slimmer than traditional LCD displays. They can also be fabricated on flexible materials and curved, bent or even rolled up completely -- and still show images and full-motion video. The downside is that OLEDs lack punch and can be overwhelmed in bright light


Software 

The phone will be running the latest version of Androids which is Ice Cream Sandwich is a given, but Phandroid also reports that it might feature four Android buttons. This doesn't seem to be obvious from the image and doesn't fit with past Samsung Android devices, so we're not convinced on that point.

Camera

Further upping the impressive specs haul the mooted Samsung Galaxy S III is set to feature a 12-megapixel camera with Full HD 1080p video recording capabilities

Memory

Galaxy SII is reported to have 32GB of inbuilt storage.

The phone is listed as 2012, we'd bet our shirts it launches on the opening night of Mobile World Congress on 26 February next year.

  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with a refreshed TouchWiz skin
  • Camera-quality 12-megapixel photos
  • Styled like the Galaxy Nexus

And here’s what we’re hoping for:

  • A flexible OLED screen on a jaw-dropping curved chassis
  • TouchWiz mini apps that put social networking front and centre
  • Ultra-high ISO photography so we don’t even need to use the sickly built-in LED flash
