Samsung aunched the Galaxy Tab 2 which is almost the same size with Galaxy Tab 7.7 The Galaxy Tab 2 will be packing with dual-core processors. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 is the slightly superior over Galaxy Tab 2, featuring a few tech treats that why is slightly higher in cost that the Galaxy Tab 2. Let see which now is better.
Engine Room
1st: Tab 7.7: 1.4 GHz dual-core Cortex-A9, Mali-400MP, 1GB RAM
2nd: Tab 2: 1GHz dual-core, 1GB RAM
Both tablet has the same 1GB of RAM which is a lot for apps running etc, however the Mali-400MP in the 7.7 is a bit of a beast and, clocked with a dual-core 1.4GHz processor, means the tablet will run fast even when playing intense games, compare to a drop on Tab 2 which is clocked with 1GHz.
The Design
1st: Tab 7.7: 196 x 133 x 7.89 mm, 335g
2nd: Tab 2: 193 x 122 x 10 mm, 344g
You would have thought the newest Sasmung Tab would have been better than the previous modle but sadly no the Tab 2 isnt new at all as it looks identical to its predecessor and is slightly taller broader and thinner than its cousins.
Even with that thete is nothing about Tab 2 which will blow your mind, The build quality is decent enough with its sturdy aluminium back panel but there's just no visual joy here.
We love our gadget to be slim, light and looking from two Tablets. Both tab let weigh fewer than 350g although the Tab 7.7 is slight lighter than the Tab 2 at 9g, which is still un-noticeable. The other good thing about Tab7.7 is the fact that the tablet is 2.2mm thinner than the Tab 2 even though isn’t much but it is enough to make the tablet feel slim.
The Display
1st: Tab 7.7 : 7.7-inc 1280x800, Super AMOLED Plus, 196 ppi
2nd: Tab 2: 7-inc, 1024x600, PLS TFT, 170 ppi
The Super AMOLED in Sagaly SII is fantastic and now is in the Table which is a good thing and makes the screen on Tab 7.7 magnificent. Tab 7.7 has 1280x800 resolutions, hence it's sharp and the AMOLED Plus keeps video and images looking incredibly vivid and rich while leaving power consumption low.
On the other hand the Tab 2 is not too bad but compare to Tab 7.7 is quite a disappointment, as the display is in PLS TFT screen is not as great compares to Super AMOLED. The Tab 7.7 display does not have the resolution drop, resulting in loss of sharpness and pixel density which find in the Tab 2.
Software/ Operating System
1st: Tab 2: Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) + TouchWiz UX
2nd: Tab 7.7 : Android 3.2 (Honeycomb) + TouchWiz UX
ICS is a more refined tablet experience and introduces a lot more cross-platform phone and slate functions than the Honeycomb platform. However the Tab 7.7 might get the ICS upgrade
Camera
1st: Tab 7.7: 3MP AF LED rear, 2MP AF front facing
2nd: Tab 2: 3MP rear , VGA front facing
Both tablets has 3MP rear facing camera which is ok since the tablet is not the most traditional of photographic devices. The devices have decent resolution on the front for video calling; 1080p recording which his standard on both Samsung tablets.
The different between the two is the front facing camera where the Tab 7.7 has 2MP while Tab 2 has "VGA quality". Which will make quite a difference to video calling and it can easy notice a significant quality change between the two.
Storage
1st: Tab 7.7: 16/32/64GB + microSD
2nd: Tab 2: 8/16/32GB + microSD
The minimum storage is 40GB and maximum is 64GB in the Tab 7.7 compare to the Galaxy Tab 2. The maximum storage combine with extra 32GB you can get via MicroSD card is totalling possible of 64GB while Tab 7.7 is 96GB.
Battery
1st: Tab 7.7: 5,100mAh
2nd: Tab 2: 4,000mAh
Even though Tab 7.7 have bigger battery that Tab 2 but bear in mind both Tablets have dual-cores system, which obvious will drain on power, the tables has differing displays and Processor speeds that will have the biggest effects on battery.
However the AMOLED screen is more power-efficient, with the Tab 7.7 you will get up to 1200 hours of standby time and 20 hours of 3G use. We leave this section inconclusive until when we get more information on Tab 2.
