HTC Amaze 4G Vs Galaxy S2

HTC Amaze is set to be out October, is packing a 4.3-inch 960x540 qHD Super LCD display, 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S3 processor, 1080p video capture, NFC, 42Mbps HSPA+ connectivity, and Android 2.3.4 beneath HTC Sense. Samsung Galaxy S2 is a gorgeous display, lightning-fast processor and powerful camera into one of the slimmest, lightest smart phones we've ever had the pleasure to hold. The Android operating system could be more user-friendly, but it's never felt faster.

Just which one is the better phone.? Is it the HTC Amaze or Samsung Galaxy SII?.

The Design

1st: Galaxy S2 : 125.3 x 66.1 x 8.49 mm, 117g

2nd: HTC Amaze 4G: 130.0 x 65.6 x 11.8 mm, 173g

Design-wise both phones are good and bigger, however most people prefer the phone lighter and thin. The Samsung Galaxy S2  get points here as the device is  thinner and lighter. Even though is slightly longer but these tend to be the dimensions of least importance when it comes down to taking up the room where your wallet and crumpled up tissues go. Ultimately, what you want is less weight to carry around and something that keeps the lining of your clothes as close to the way which your tailor intended.

Display

1st: Galaxy S24.27-inch, 800x480px, 218ppi, Super AMOLED Plus

2nd: HTC Amaze 4G: 4.3″ S-LCD capacitive touchscreen 960×540

Samsung Galaxy S II has a superior screen compare to HTC Amaze, one of the reasons Samsung has Super Amoled screen, although HTC Amaze has a better resolution of 960 x540 with a good size screen. Still Samsung does have impressive panel technology from all of its TV work and that Super AMOLED Plus and the colours that it can produce are superb while HTC screen is regular TFT touchscreen. Conclusion the Samsung’s is better

Engine Room

1st: HTC Amaze 4G : Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 Dual-Core 1.5GHz

2nd: Galaxy S2 : Samsung Exynos 4210, Dual-Core 1.2GHz

Amaze has a powerfull processor 1.5 dual-core while Galaxy S2 contains dual-core, 1.2GHz ARM Cortex-A9 CPU, although the SGS2 features the Mali-400 GPU - an impressive piece of kit in its own right. Both handset running 1GB of RAM which makes HTC Amaze with 1.5 dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 processor very fast compare to Galaxy S2. If you only care about the faster processor and nothing else then HTC is the phone for you.

Camera

1st: HTC Amaze 4G: 8MP rear, 2MP front, 1080p video, Dual LED

2nd: Galaxy S2 : 8MP rear, 2MP front, 1080p video capture

Both phones have the 8MP rear ,and 1080 video capture.
More than any other feature, HTC and T-Mobile tout the Amaze 4G's camera has two features purportedly take this 8-mexapixel shooter beyond.

One of the features which stood up on HTC Amaze camera is the clear short as the device use the High Dynamic Range feature to get more detail while taking pictures in high contrast lighting with a Dual LED flash means the camera double your flash power with two LED lights and capture amazing photos, even in less-than-ideal lighting situations, while Galaxy S2 has only single LED flash (The Samsung Galaxy S II features 8-megapixel camera and according to reviews, the phone’s camera is one of the best in the Android market).

One is a new shooting mode called SmartShot ( The Smartshot captures five photos and creates the best shot using clear faces with smiles and no blinking, while the PerfectPics is a separate album in the gallery created by scoring and filtering the best photos to the surface), which works with portraits of people's faces. It takes five shots in quick succession and automatically brings the "best" elements of them all together. If you're blinking in one picture, making a strained expression in another, and moving your chin in the third, the final image should show open eyes and a smile, while all in focus. For this reason HTC Amaze has a good camera features

Connectivity

1st: HTC Amaze 4G: Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, DLNA, 4G, Wi-Fi hotspot, HDMI out,

2nd: Galaxy S2 : Wi-Fi, NFC, 4G, BT 3.0, DLNA, free Wi-Fi tethering

Both phones have got the basics connectivity. The one thing which makes Amaze better Galaxy S2 in term of connectivity is the ability to connect the phone to your TV using  HDMI-out which is quite relevant these days as more.

Battery Life

1st: Galaxy S2 : 1650mAh, up to 8 hours talk time

2nd: HTC Amaze 4G: 1730mAh, Up to 8 hours talktime

Galaxy S2 has better battery life than HTC Amaze even though the both reported to have up to 8 hours talk time.  Galaxy S2 has smaller battery than Amaze but Galaxy S2 it has more battery life this might be down to the fact that Amaze has powerfull processor than Samsung

Tie: Galaxy S2         :Android Gingerbread 2.3.4 and TouchWiz

Tie: HTC Amaze 4G :Android Gingerbread 2.3.4 and HTC Sense 3.0

The Samsung Galaxy S2 is using the latest version of TouchWiz, which is more intuitive that the previous version, and also more polished and snappier. The HTC Amaze 4G on the other hand is using HTC Sense 3.0, the same custom Android skin used by the HTC Sensation 4G.

Storage

Tie: HTC Amaze 4G: 16GB with microSD

Tie: Galaxy S2 : 16GB with micro SD

Both has 16GB build in storage and a microSD card slot which can take up to 32GB cards, plus 1RAM.

1st: Galaxy S2 : £410 (16GB)

2nd: HTC Amaze 4G: $259.99 (16GB) with two years contract

The Samsung Galaxy S II will sport the cheaper tag price compared to the Amaze 4G’s price.

Conclusion

1st: Galaxy S2

2nd: HTC Amaze 4G

HTC Amaze 4G is pretty impressed. It builds off the Sensation 4G's general body and specs, adds a one-upped T-Mobile MyTouch 4G Slide's camera, and runs on T-Mobile's fastest network to date. With ingredients like these, the HTC Amaze 4G has the makings of an excellent smartphone.

For $30 less, the Samsung Galaxy S II has the same network capabilities, the same dual-core processor, and an even slightly newer version of the Android Gingerbread OS. Plus, it has a 2-megapixel front-facing camera and its camera features are also excellent. In some shots, those photos taken with our unlocked version of the Galaxy S II came out even better than those of the MyTouch 4G Slide upon which the Amaze 4G's camera is based. Galaxy S2 is slimmer and lighter than amaze with the better battery life, therefore Galaxy S2 to be a better handset.
