Samsung Omnia W Vs HTC Titan

Most if not all Windows Phone 7 have got the latest Microsoft update which is called Mango. The latest version comes with many features, one of the best feature is Multi-tasking. The good news is both phone running windows 7 Operating system.

The Design

Tie: Omnia W : 115.6 x 58.8 x 10.9 mm, 115.3g

Tie: Titan : 131.5mm x 70.7mm x 9.9mm,160 grams

Currently there is two major factors whcih most people are looking for, first is how thing is the device and the weight of the device. The good thing about Titan is the fast is thinner than omnia, and the down side is heavier, Although with the sice of the Titan puting into consideration, the devide bound to be heavier. The good news is with Titan you shouldn't have a problem for the average jeans-wearing man, as the phone fited perfectly. Howevre for the ladies especial if you like your trousers skinny then you might want to get something a little less massive.

HTC has designed the Titan to be just the screen and little else. HTC has also, sensibly, opted not to include a kickstand to avoid adding extra bulk. The build quality, as we’ve come to expect from HTC, is very good. It’s solid, with very little flexibility in the chassis. Therefore we have a tie on this category

Display

1st: Omnia W: 3.7-inch, 480 x 800 pixels,  AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors

2nd: Titan       : 4.7-inch touch screen with 480 x 800 resolution

The biggest talking point with Titan is the large 4.7 inch screen that HTC have packaged the Titan with. This huge screen makes the Titan one of the largest available phones on the current UK market and is impressive size for watching footage and web browsing, though its huge size means you may need to have huge pockets.

On the other hand the Omnia W is something smaller, though is still a decent device as far as size is concerned. It has an excellent Super AMOLED screen (which is one of the best feature of the phone)  and though not as large as the HTC Titan, it surely is a more impressive phone in the quality stakes. So, this is a case of size versus ability to an extent. With the AMOLED capacitive touchscreen in Omnia?? surely is fair to say Omnia wins.

Engine Room

1st: Omnia W: 1.5GHz processor

2nd: Titan : 1.4GHz processor

Both phone have a superb processors with 1.4GHz/1.5GHz processor which certainly powers it adequately and ensures the Windows Mango phone works to a good degree. However Titan has slightly more powerfull process but both runs 512MB of RAM would not make much different.

As Windows Phone 7 doesn’t support dual-core processors, like those found in the Samsung Galaxy S II, HTC has chosen to use a Qualcomm MSM8255 1.5GHz processor instead, and beefed it up with 512MB of RAM. The instant effect is a much smoother experience over the company’s 2010 Windows Phone 7 range and noticeably faster.

Camera

1st: Titan: 8 MP with F2.2 lens, dual LED flash, and BSI sensor, 1.3 MP front camera, ND Video recording 720p HD

2nd: Omnia W: 5 MP, 2592 x 1944 pixels, autofocus, LED flash, video at 720p@30fps

Samsung have given the Omnia W only 5mp camera that can shoot 720p video – great for everyday needs although not quite on par with some more recent Android phones from Samsung and HTC.

However HTC has been moving towards better cameras sports an 8 megapixel camera ith dual LED flash. It looks like the company has included the same camera lens here, with an F/2.2 aperture and a wide 28mm focal length. This means you can get more in a picture compared to previous HTC smartphones.

Connectivity

1st: Titan: 3G, Wi-Fi, bluetooth,HDMI, HSPA/WCDMA,Tethering, Micro HDMI

2nd: Omnia W: Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, HSDPA, 14.4 Mbps; HSUPA, 5.76 Mbps

Both phones have got the basics, although Titan sported to have a micro  HDMI-out socket which is quite relevant these days
for connecting it to an external display or television.

Titan

Battery Life

1st : Titan: 1600 mAh,Talk time up to 710 minutes (11 hours 50 minutes)

2nd : Omnia : Standard battery, Li-Ion 1500 mAh, talk time up to Up to 5 h 50 min (2G) / 6 h 30 min (3G)

Titan has a standard battery but its has up to 410 minutes ( 6 hrs 50 minutes) on WCDMA and up to 710 minutes (11 hours 50 minutes) on GSM, up to 460 hours on standby , while Omia only has up to 390 minutes (6 hours 30 minutes) although is not too bad but compare to Titan it is bad.

Software

Tie: Omnia  :Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5 Mango

Tie: Titan: Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5 Mango

It is a tie since both device running the latest version of Windows OS which is Mango which has many features including the multitasking,  support for better live tiles, front facing cameras, Wi-Fi hotspots and stacks of other features.

Storage

1st: Titan: 16 GB storage, 512 MB RAM

2nd: Omnia : 8 GB storage, 512 MB RAM

Both handset has poor RAM of 512 but HTC Titan comes with a generous 16GB of storage compare to Omnia which is only 8GB. On of the down side of both handsets like other Windows Phone 7 handsets isn’t expandable via a microSD.
Titan

Price

1st: Omnia: £350 (8GB)

2nd: Titan: £490 (16GB)

Price wise Omnia is the better obtion but functionality Titan is good with 16GB storage is just simply great.

Conclusion

1st: Omnia

2nd: Titan

The operating system on both phones is nice and multitask orientation means the phones are very enjoyable to use. Both offer similar speed when in use, however we just loved the Samsung’s screen and even though the HTC has a great big WVGA display the Samsung trumps it for quality. However if you main concern is Battery life or a good quality imagine ad you dont mind the weight then Titan is the phone for you
