Samsung Galaxy Nexus vs Galaxy S II

Both the Samsung Galaxy S II and the Samsung Nexus Prime are two of the greatest smartphones – Android or not – to ever come into existence.

Design

1st : Galaxy S2 : 125.3 x 66.1 x 8.49mm, 117g, 4.3″ Super AMOLED Plus 800×480

2nd: Galaxy Nexus : 135.5 x 67.94 x 8.94mm, 135g, 4.65 Inch Super HD AMOLED 1280×720 Display

Most people the like the phone to be light and slimmer. Galaxy S2 is both lighter and slimer than Galaxy nexus. The Galaxy Nexus Prime has a larger screen, but it remains to be seen whether that will translate to better pixel density.

Display

1st: Galaxy Nexus : 4.65 inch Super AMOLED HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels

2nd: Galaxy S2 : 4.27-inch, 800x480px, 218ppi, Super AMOLED Plus

Both hand set has Super Amoled display however the Nexus Prime has a bigger screen with better resolution of 1280 x 720 the display is superb and the display is said to feature curved glass.

Engine Room

1st :Galaxy Nexus :TI OMAP 4460 dual-core Cortex A9 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz

2nd :Galaxy S2 : Dual-core 1.2GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor, Mali-400MP GPU, Exynos chipset

Prime no doubt will have atleast 1.2 GHz dual core or 1.5 GHz dual core while Galax S2 has 1.2 GHz. Prime comes with the latest Android version 4. which is Ice Cream Sandwich compare to Galaxy S2 (Gengerbread) although no doubt Galaxy S 2 will get the upgrade when is released. The winner in this category is Nexus Prime

RAM

Tie: Galaxy S2 : 1 RAM

Tie: Galaxy Nexus: 1RAM

Both phones run on 1RAM

Camera

1st: Galaxy S2       : 8MP LED Flash rear, 2MP front, 1080p video capture

2nd: Galaxy Nexus : 5MP LED Flash rear, 1.3MP front, 1080p video capture

Prime only has 5MP (which is a big let down) and 1.3MP front while Galaxy S2 has 8MP and 2Mp front camera.

Connectivity

1st: Galaxy S2      : Wi-Fi, NFC, 4G, BT 3.0, DLNA, Wi-Fi tethering

2nd: Galaxy Nexus: Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, NFC support, Wi-Fi  tendering

Both phones have got the basics although Galaxy S2 have 4G,  DLNA. However this might not be a big deal in the UK that there’s no 4G radio or NFC technology included but in other countries where both infrastructures exist, that could be quite a let down.

Battery Life

Tie : Galaxy S2 :1650mAh, up to 8 hours talk time

Tie : Galaxy Nexus :1750mAh Talk time: Up to 8 hours on 3G

Its a tie since both Phones has up to 8 hours talktime on 3G, although Prime has a bigger battery.

Software

1st: Galaxy Nexus : Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

2nd: Galaxy S2 : Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread + TouchWiz 4.0

Prime is running on Ice Cream Sandwicj although Ga;axy S2 will likely to be getting the updates on Ice Cream Sandwich.

There are enough rumors floating around that suggest that some great features will be implemented into ICS. The possibility of having the Chrome browser on Android phones sounds great, even with the already superior browser that ships with the OS.

Storage

1st: Galaxy S2 : 16GB + microSD

2nd: Galaxy Nexus : 16/32GB

Internal phone storage is probably still more critical in Android even though the system can now cope with apps placed on the microSD card.  but this MicroSD card you can get more removable storage, then it is possible to have a whopping 64GB to play with on the Samsung Galaxy S II.

Price

1st: Galaxy S2 : £410 (16GB)

2nd: Galaxy Nexus :£515 (16GB)

Galaxy S2 is cheaper than Nexus

Conclusion

1st: Samsung Galaxy S2

2nd: Galaxy Nexus

Based on the analysis and considering the Nexus Prime has a significantly higher spec’ed display vs the Samsung Galaxy S II, at 1280×720 on a 4.6 inch for the Prime and 800×480 on a 4.3 for the Galaxy S II. Galaxy Nexus is coming with Ince Cream Sandwich although Galaxy s2 will be getting the update and Galaxy S2 is lighter and slimmer. It was tough choice but we chose Galaxy S 2 .
